Inside Regional Development

United Nations Regional office on Disarmament, Pace and Development - UNLIREC  announced the launching of its new Caribbean-wide programme aimed at strengthening subregional  implementation of UN Security Council resolution 1540 (2004).

This programme came about as a response to requests by States for improved strategic trade controls, including appropriate legislation and policies, aimed at impeding Non-State Actors from acquiring and using WMDs and their means of delivery. All programme activities will build on the work of the 1540 Committee and its group of experts and will complement relevant efforts undertaken by CARICOM and other regional organizations.
